Communication between nursery and home is valued very highly at St Elizabeth’s Nursery.

All our parents and carers are updated at least once a week with a Nursery Newsletter, outlining our key areas of learning and including any songs, poems or stories we have been focusing on. We also include our weekly plan to explain what topics are coming up.

This provides the opportunity to develop children’s understanding through continued discussion at home. Our children are from a wide range of backgrounds, so we actively encourage parents to celebrate and share their experiences with us.

What our parents have to say...

"Our children have all learnt to love nature, through the careful nurture of Miss Delia and the team. They dig in the soil and plant bulbs in the Autumn, then watch in wonder as their individual bulbs sprout and bloom when watered and weeded. In Autumn they collect seeds from flowers and vegetables, building a seed bank to plant the following Spring. The young children learn to care for something living, they learn patience and resilience and the cycle of plants.

Miss Delia uses nature for some of learning’s building blocks: “D” for Daffodil, or simply counting leaves or flowers or observing birds and mini beasts around us.

There is increasing data showing the importance of interacting with nature for wellbeing. St Elizabeth’s Nursery gives our children a strong foundation, developing confidence and respect for plants and animals.  These foundations are a lifelong support for wellbeing and teach them to care for our planet."

What our parents have to say...

"I am a parent to three dual heritage children all of whom received a wonderful education at St Elizabeth’s Nursery. When my son first started at the nursery I explained to the staff that our family’s heritage ranges from Nigeria, Norway, Ireland and England. My husband and I were so pleased that the nursery provided books that were reflective of our children’s heritage and that celebrated a diverse range of cultures and ethnicities. My children were so thrilled when the nursery planned for opportunities for them to celebrate their heritage and share their family culture with their peers. We found that the staff were very welcoming and inclusive and our children thrived in the year they were there."

What our parents have to say...

"Our special needs son attended St Elizabeth’s nursery for 2 years. During that time, he thrived and matured under the care of the administrators and staff.

St Elizabeth is a supportive and safe environment for both children and parents alike, we received heartfelt advice from the team as well as ongoing guidance from the Borough SEN team, we were given practical progress reports and honest assessments regarding his transition from nursery to his new school. As parents we were in kept in constant communication with the staff and with our son’s key person, who he grew very close to which was a blessing for us.

Our son was encouraged and developed enormously during his time at St Elizabeth’s. Delia and her team have a heartfelt bond with each child, they sustain a resilient kindness and patience with all the children. They really do care. The children and the staff formed wonderful friendships during such a young, sensitive and developing stage, and we will always remember our son’s time there fondly."

What our parents have to say...

"To say we're very lucky to have registered our daughter at St. Elizabeth’s Nursery would be an understatement...

Ms. Delia and her team have been very professional, kind, and welcoming.

The nursery has children of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds; and this diversity is celebrated through virtual visits to the children's home countries as well as simplified lessons about their religious occasions.

Plus, meticulous care is given to each child at the nursery. And we've experienced this first-hand through our own daughter's speedy development - both at the nursery and back home.

Moreover, Ms Delia is ever keen on updating the parents verbally and in writing on the various topics they teach the children every week - be it colours, numbers, letters, countries, textures or the current season... in short, everything a child would need to set out with confidence on the lifelong journey of learning and education."

What our parents have to say...

"Our 3-year-old son communicates in Korean at home and has been rapidly learning English at nursery, thanks to engaging interactions with his teachers and peers. Additionally, he's beginning to explore Spanish, providing him a great opportunity to experience language diversity from an early age. He was particularly delighted when I visited the nursery during Lunar New Year and shared aspects of our Korean heritage with his friends. We donned traditional clothing, presented images of traditional foods, and explored some of the customs observed in Korea on this special day. The nursery promotes cultural diversity and inclusion and encourages children to learn and share their unique cultural backgrounds.

Educational trips such as autumnal walks in Sheen Common, visits to the local library, and excursions to the Barnes Wetland Centre provide an excellent chance for children to discover the world beyond the nursery environment alongside their teachers and peers. While we've visited the local library as a family before, my son had a different experience listening to stories and exploring the library with his nursery friends. The fall walks to Sheen Common are a wonderful way for children to interact with and appreciate autumn's beauty and the fun aspect of exploring nature."

What our parents have to say...

"We chose St Elizabeth’s Nursery for our son for his preschool year, two years ago, and our daughter is now in her final term at the nursery. It would be an understatement to say that it has been one of the best decisions that we have made for our children. Both children, who have very different personalities, have absolutely thrived under Miss Delia and her team’s care. Neither attended any early years setting before starting at St Elizabeth’s and both children have developed so much socially, spiritually and academically. One of the most special things about the nursery is that every child is treated as an individual with particular focus on their needs and unique personality traits. They are truly nurtured and appropriately challenged in reference to trying new foods, making new friends, trying activities they might not otherwise always chose to engage in and speaking/performing in front of their peers.

The nursery teachers help the children build a strong moral compass and take pride in their faith and be thankful for all they have. The children have fun and are respectful and polite to each other and towards adults. Family is at the centre of everything the children do at nursery and it really feels like a strong and supportive community with open communication between teachers, children and parents. The children are active, engaged and incredibly happy at nursery and leave nursery well prepared for a smooth transition to Reception. We would recommend this setting to anyone and will miss Miss Delia and her team immensely."
